How Gum Builder™ Works

The Gum Builder™ delivers a clinically refined approach to gingival aesthetics, empowering dental professionals to elevate patient outcomes.

Why It Works

What Is CaHA and Why Does It Work?

Gum Builder™ uses Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) — a biocompatible material that is FDA-cleared and has been used safely in regenerative medicine for years.

Unlike a simple filler, CaHA does two things: it immediately adds volume to thin or receded gum tissue, and it stimulates your body’s own collagen production — meaning results improve over time rather than wearing off.

The material is placed with extreme precision using a 5-point injection map developed by AAFE — ensuring even distribution and natural-looking tissue augmentation.

THE PROTOCOL

The AAFE-Developed 5-Point Injection Map

This targeted approach ensures accurate placement, consistent results, and safe delivery of CaHA material — minimizing the risk of overfill and maximizing tissue response.

The Gum Builder™ technique was developed exclusively by AAFE faculty and is not available through any other training program. The protocol uses a precise, multi-point delivery system targeting five anatomical positions around each treated tooth — ensuring accurate placement, consistent results, and safe delivery of CaHA material.

Mesial Papilla

The interdental papilla on the mesial side of the tooth — addresses black triangle closure from the left entry point.

Mesial Midpoint

Mid-sulcular placement along the mesial root surface to thicken the tissue band and support coverage.

Apex — Mucogingival Junction

The most apical injection point, precisely targeting the mucogingival junction for maximum tissue lift and stabilization.

Distal Midpoint

Mirror point to site 2, along the distal root surface — ensures symmetrical tissue thickening and even CaHA distribution.

Distal Papilla

Final injection point at the distal interdental papilla — completes the loop and addresses black triangle closure from the right.

WHY IT WORKS

Your Results Timeline

Treatment Day

CaHA injected, tissue molded. Immediate visual improvement visible.

Sensitivity Begins to Improve

Most patients notice a measurable reduction in hot/cold sensitivity within the first few days.

Tissue Rebuilds Visibly

Collagen stimulation is at peak. Visual gum improvement is noticeable. Second layer placed if needed.

Full Results Documented

Final measurements and photography. Most patients achieve their best outcome at this point.

Patient Experiences

What Patients Are Saying

Real feedback from the AAFE Gum Builder™ clinical study.

Stabilization

Your provider takes baseline photos and measurements, applies topical anesthetic, then precisely injects the CaHA filler using a 5-point technique. Tissue is gently molded for 3–5 seconds. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes.

Regeneration

You return 3–6 weeks later for a second evaluation. Additional filler may be placed for volume refinement as needed. This is the phase where collagen stimulation is at its peak and tissue rebuilds most actively.

Evaluation

A final clinical assessment with before-and-after photography. Most patients see their best results here — measurable recession reduction and significant sensitivity improvement confirmed.

After Visit 3: Gum Builder™ maintenance is integrated into your regular 6-month hygiene recall — no separate appointment needed.
